Robert Wade graduated from Nottingham University, and entered the legal profession in 1972, being called to the Bar and winning the Harmsworth Scholarship and Blackstone Exhibition at the Middle Temple and becoming pupil to the then future Lord Chief Justice, Harry Woolf.  He became a solicitor in December 1976.  During 45 years of private practice, he has conducted advocacy in the Magistrates, Crown and County Courts, and in the Court of Appeal.

He has lectured and worked in the areas of Family Law, Civil Disputes, Contract, Land Law, Probate, Wills and Criminal Law.  In 2015 he obtained a Certificate of Higher Education in Theology.  He is a qualified soccer referee, and has accompanied, conducted, composed and sung in opera, musicals, oratorio and church music, and is the organist and choir-master at the church of Llantilio Pertholey in Abergavenny.  He has recently published a novel, “Crash Course”, under the pen name of Alan Barrington.
